The savage precision comes with a heavy barrel. I don't have any experience with the Ruger but my Savage Axis 2 with the hardwood stock in 22-250 shoots good. I've killed prairie dogs and jackrabbits out to 400 yards with it. My buddy has the one with the synthetic stock in .223 and it shoots good.

But, never liked rifle manufacturers creating packages with pre-mounted scopes (it's is a big draw for some with Axis II, but resist!). jiggin is livin and welder72.

The trigger on the Axis is horrible (the Axis II acc-trigger is much better), the bolt handle feels cheap, the stock is extra flimsy and cheap feeling, etc. The rifles shoot, but they are just very cheap feeling overall.
