Maya/Sal. Yes. Maya most useful for healing, Krieg built for UVHM, Axton and Sal are definitely for solo, and if you spice it up, Zer0 and Gaige.. All of them are fine to play single player. It depends on how you want to play, but they're all good and can handle all content. My personal preference is for Maya.

It is a percentage increase of a percentage elemental effect chance. Since you are using SMGs a high chance to ignite or whatever might be 20%. Even with flicker maxed at 5 for a 30% increase, takes it up to only 26% 5 skill points is a high price to pay to go from 1 out of 5 to basically one out of 4 elemental effect chance in my opinion. Maya is very good for endgame. I personally run the trickster class mod that boosts fire rate. Beehawking is the easy way to go for her, but I also like to use the lady fist, pimpernel, and dpuh on occasion.
