Hi all, As the title suggests, I'm curious about the quality of life of a community Heme/Onc physician. I'm currently deciding between a hybrid community vs academic job. When I discuss the community job with attendings, they act like 4d/week in community is the end of the world and unsustainable.M3 here finishing up their 6th rotation. I've seen a lot of Heme/Onc so far in the various specialties I've rotated through and it's very fascinating. I was wondering if current oncologists can provide job offers, salary, lifestyle, day-to-day operations of current practices! Yes you definitely have a chance. I am DO, Step 1 < 220, doing IM residency at a small community hospital. Initially thought about doing hospitalist vs. Endo or ID fellowship but found my interests in Hem/onc later in the PGY-2. Have been doing research throughout residency (case report, QI project etc.).

Mixed oncology with some hematology kids thrown in; but my side is mostly solid tumor (as opposed to leukemia/lymphoma) treatment and bone marrow transplant CSU San Bernardino; it was a traditional BSN but I was a 2nd-bacc student so it took me 3 years (only had to take nursing classes and nothing else)
